Online functionality for Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky has been unavailable since the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection servers were shut down in 2014. Thanks to the project pelipper-test by Irdkwia, most services can be accessed again on unmodified copies of the game via a Nintendo DS or compatible emulator like MelonDS.

Public servers

You can connect to one of the following publicly available servers:

How to Connect

Follow these steps in-game to connect to a custom server.

  1. On the Top Menu, go to Other -> Nintendo WFC -> Nintendo WFC Settings. Select "Yes" when prompted.
  2. Establish a valid connection if you haven’t already (if you’re using the MelonDS emulator, there should already be one called "melonAP".)
  3. Turn “Auto-obtain DNS” off.
  4. Change “Primary DNS” to the IP address of the server you want to connect to.
  5. Save settings and test your connection. If it successfully connects, you are on the server!

Discord integration

North American copies of Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky feature an email service that notifies players of their Rescue Mail status. Not only is this service implemented, but the SkyTemple server features a bot (Pelipper) that will notify users of Rescue Mail updates as well! Integrating your game with Pelipper involves following these steps:

  1. On the Top Menu, go to Other -> Nintendo WFC -> Email Settings -> Set Email Address.
  2. When the game prompts for an email address, instead input your Discord username with the following format: &discord&username. For example, if your Discord username is "decoi_representative", you would input &discord&decoi_representative.
  3. The game will ask you to re-input the field you inputted in Step 2; do so.
  4. Select "Yes" when prompted both times. Connect to Nintendo WFC.
  5. If successful, you will receive a DM from the Discord bot named "Pelipper" that informs you of your sign-up code. Press "Next" once you have received the DM.
  6. Enter the last four digits of your sign-up code in-game.
  7. You will be prompted to enter a four-digit password. This is only ever used in-game and is not stored online. Enter the four digits of your choosing. This password will be needed whenever you want to change your email settings in-game.
  8. Confirm your password. The game will be saved, and from here on out, you will be notified of any updates regarding your Rescue Mail!

Please note that your will only receive pings from the Discord bot if you share at least one server with it.
